A Peak at Four Frontiers

The UK’s first Frontier 375 minilab was recently installed at Peak Imaging in Sheffield, increasing the lab’s number of Frontiers to four.

Now Peak is able to offer an even faster service and better quality prints to both professional and semi-pro customers whether they supply film or digital media and whether they are local, or part of an increasing number of mail order and internet customers.

“While our internet sales account for about 10% of our current turnover and we forecast an increase to up to 17% by the end of 2005, many of our core customers continue to shoot film for their wedding and portrait work,” says Eric Willoughby, the lab’s founder and owner.
“Using Fujicolor Crystal Archive DP paper and investing in another Frontier means that we can supply the very best quality prints for customers who shoot digital or film and the dust and scratch removal feature of the new Frontier means we can offer 120 services to pro standard, as well as 35mm. Customers are delighted with the quality and speed of service.”

With a faster and more powerful processor than the original Frontier 370, the Frontier 375 can print up to 1,450 6”x4” prints per hour, and an LED light source ensures that fantastic quality is standard. The dust and scratch removal elimination identifies potential faults and digitally replicates adjacent colours.
“Peak Imaging installed its first Frontier in 2000 and we instantly noticed a visible print improvement from analogue, lens-based minilabs and a dramatic reduction in paper wastage,” continues Eric.
“Although ratios are changing, pro-labs have to offer the very best print quality from both film and digital media so any investment in new equipment must be able to handle both. So the main reason we continue to install additional Frontiers is the system’s flexibility to print both film and digitally-captured prints to the highest standard, ensuring that we can provide the most up-to-date lab services, despite constant and rapid changes in picture-origination.”
