"There's something a little art deco about this two-tone version of the Z100fd, and the diagonally sliding lens cover is a delight, but the flash clothes are by no means there to hide a lack of substance. Within the pretty, 20mm-thin metal body is a 5x zoom, an optical image stabiliser and an 8MP sensor capable of better results than most compacts packing two or three more megapixels. The card slot is versatile enough to take SD or xD cards and the LCD is hyper-crisp. The only downside is that some functions are tricky to access. We'll forgive it."

"From the 5x optical zoom and excellent stabiliser, to the diagonally sliding lens cover and interesting two-tone styling (more conservative options are available), the Z100fd makes the other cameras look as peppy as chartered accountancy.
As well as taking excellent, well-exposed pictures, Fujifilm's style-o-snapper also grabs focus quicker than anything except the Canon, while its navigation wheel whizzes through menus. A handy ‘Auction' mode lets eBay hounds combine four shots in one... The Z100fd is proof that stellar quality doesn't have to cost the earth."

After all, 19.8mm is thin for any camera, especially one clad in aluminium and equipped with an 8MP image sensor. The Z100fd also packs face-detection technology, and introduces another world first in the form of a diagonally sliding lens cover. We like this innovation more than is strictly healthy, just as we do the four available colours. We were wrong to taunt."
