Digital Camera Buyer - Issue 76

This camera is a fine example of style and power combining to create something extraordinary. The F100fd is not a huge step away from its predecessor, but has taken a clear step forward in terms of technology and build... it's hard to fault this camera for sheer quality of images. In short, Fujifilm's F100fd is a great offering for the compact camera market."

VERDICT: Combining all the style and ease of use you expect in a compact, with features that really are exceptional. 5/5 stars

Group test of compact cameras

"The F100fd's massive 12-megapixel resolution is captured by a 1/1.6in sensor, which is larger than most and helps improve focus and reduce noise. The lens has a 5x zoom range starting at a wide-angle 28mm - a significant benefit for framing shots artistically...

Labs verdict: The clear winner is Fujifilm's F100fd. It has a wide-angle lens with a 5x zoom range, and it produces the best photos of all the cameras here."

Digital Camera - August 2008

"Typical of Fujifilm's newer cameras, colour rendition is beautifully natural in standard colour mode and richly vibrant at the chrome setting. Couple this with generally faultless matrix metering and the F100fd's smart range of image processing features, and you're assured of consistently fabulous picture quality, straight off the camera."

The Verdict: "For such a slim-line camera, the F100fd packs a mighty punch, coupling a generous zoom range with dual image stabiliser functions, automatic dynamic range and impressive high ISO performance. Face detection works a treat and the scene modes are very much worth having."

"The F100fd is Fujifilm's highest-resolution compact, featuring a 12MP SuperCCD SR sensor. Among its many technologies sit face detection, dynamic range expansion, and Fujifilm's dual image stabilisation feature...Performance is good and the image quality at the lower end of the ISO scale is excellent."

"The F100fd is very well designed, and features a very chic curved exterior that is far from dominated by complicated buttons. This ensures ease of use, also true of the menu system, which provides quick navigation and is clearly set out. Like many new compacts, this one uses the SDHC memory card format, but also offers an xD picture card slot, handy if you're upgrading from an older Fujifilm compact. Picture quality is superb, and the levels of colour tone are quite impressive. Images are vibrant and the focusing pin sharp.

Considering the price point, this camera is excellent value and positively packed with easy to use technology that will not only help improve your images, but also get you taking more pictures."

Daily Mirror - April 2008

"After Liz Hurley's candid admission she didn't mind a hi-tech hand touching up her photos, there seems no reason why we shouldn't follow in her footsteps with Fuji's new "cheat's camera"... the Fujifilm FinePix F100fd has a "portrait enhancer" which reduces wrinkles and blemishes."

Sunday Times - April 2008

"Anyone who can't afford a personal make-up artist might instead consider investing in Fujifilm's FinePix F100fd camera. In Portrait Enhancer mode it smooths away annoying wrinkles faster than you can say "anti-ageing cream"."

The Times Magazine - March 2006

"[The Fujifilm FinePix F100fd] is laden with features including a micro-thumbnail display (where the camera shows 100 images in micro form, making them easy to pick out), continuous shooting, a portrait enhancer that "airbrushes" fine lines and instant high-res playback at ten frames per second."
