Companies are defined by many things. How old they are, where they come from, what products they make, their size.

Two things perhaps summarise Fujifilm more than anything else, our commitment to our staff and our enthusiasm for new technology.

‘People make great companies, not structures...’

We are lucky to have a strong family culture, which binds us all together. We foster a caring environment where people matter and their views count. We try to nurture the best of both the British and Japanese cultures here at Fujifilm London. Japanese companies are perhaps known for their loyal workforce and devoted employees, and British for their hard work, professionalism and creative flair. This eclectic mix produces a rare breed of dedicated employee.

We are a tight knit community and care for each other. Once people are here and have gained their fellow colleagues' trust, they become a family member. They don’t need to continually prove or protect themselves. They work hard because they want to, not because they are forced to do so. And a committed workforce, proud of their Company, will always do their best for their customers.

‘Technology is the lifeblood of Fujifilm, the electricity that sparks our constant renewal...’

Fujifilm Japan spends £2m a day on research and development. A large part of our workforce is dedicated toward exploring the outer reaches of imaging and information technology to dream up the products of tomorrow and bring them to market.

In a way we have two types of research program. We have the continual refinement of more traditional technologies, those who strive to continually perfect photographic film. These are the brave pioneers who brought us radical new films like Velvia and Provia, or the new motion picture negative films like the daylight F-250D. Then we have those dedicated to digital technologies in the x-ray, graphics and photographic fields, who are producing exceptional products like FinePix digital cameras and Laser Imagers for Computed Radiography.

Fujifilm will never sacrifice quality in the search for market success. Quality is at the heart of everything we do. We have a strong belief that we must maintain a close bond with our customers and never betray their trust. Where quality and technology count, you will find always find Fujifilm a leader.

About Fujifilm London

Fujifilm London is the UK subsidiary of Fuji Photo Film Co Ltd of Japan. The Company was first incorporated as a limited company in 1976, having previously been the subsidiary of Fujifilm Germany. Our Head Office is in Swiss Cottage, north London, and we have extensive distribution and technical operations to the southeast of Bedford.

Fujifilm UK has a staff of around 450, of which the vast majority are British. From quite modest beginnings, our business has become very strong in the UK. I am very proud of the huge commitment of my staff to create leadership in many areas. For example, we have been a market leader for more than 4 years with our FinePix range of digital cameras. We have also supplied almost three quarters of the new digital Frontier minilabs that are now appearing in many high street shops. Our core product, photographic film, is still regarded by enthusiast and professional photographers alike as the ultimate in product quality. Even in the less well-known field of computer media, we are a leader, with our ATOMM coating technology creating mould-breaking products like the 200 GB LTO™ data cartridges and, coming soon, our NANO CUBIC technology offering incredible one-terabyte storage capacities for data cartridges and three gigabytes for floppy disks.

But the very best is still to come, and we are brimming with enthusiasm. Digital technology has changed so many of our markets – from the way photos are captured and printed, to the way x-rays are recorded and newspapers are printed. As an R & D driven company and a leader in so many core technologies, we have tremendous confidence in the future.
